What is one thing your church has had success with in the local community?

Hosting and co-hosting fundraising runs for Justice and Life issues.

How did you recognize this need?

Our two Run:4Justice runs grew out of our study of Amos. As a church we committed to a partnership to curtail sex trafficking in Cambodia. Then, last year we also partnered with two other churches for an area-wide Choose Life 5k to raise funds for multiple crisis pregnancy centers in the Tarrant Country area.

Who is Run:4Justice reaching?

Our body, runners and those outside of our body who are compelled by justice issues.

2014 Choose Life 5k in Fort WorthHow is this initiative impacting the community and strengthening your church?

Our most recent run raised around $200,000 that was split up among several faith-based crisis pregnancy centers (Arlington-Mansfield Pregnancy Center, Fort Worth Pregnancy Center, Grace House Ministries, Pregnancy Lifeline and Real Choices Pregnancy Medical Clinic) impacting lives of the unborn in our communities, as well as introducing the gospel to their mothers.

What did you start out trying to do, and what, if anything changed?

The run concept started with our Cambodia focus, but has now shifted to crisis pregnancy here in the communities we serve. We have been able to partner with other churches who are also focusing on crisis pregnancy issues.

How does your solution work?

Many dedicated volunteers!

What steps did you take to start it, or how could someone start doing a similar ministry?

We tapped into the expertise of runners, as well as the passion of key volunteers.

What did you learn that you'd like to share with others who may try to start something similar?

Trying something new always has a certain amount of unknowns or fears, but perfect love casts out fear.

The Choose Life 5K run/walk race supports pregnancy resource centers in the Tarrant Country area who provide hope for moms and babies in unplanned pregnancies. Please visit their website for more information, ways to get involved or information on their 2015 race.
