Students in Pasadena, TX helping Houston BOUNCE back from Hurricane Harvey

Students have arrived in Pasadena ready for a week of disaster recovery work in the Houston area. Bouncers will be rebuilding communities and restoring hope to homeowners who have lost so much in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Above all, Bouncers will seek to reflect the love of Christ as they install sheet rock and repair roofs. Bouncers will be the hands and feet of Christ as they seek to meet the needs of those in the Houston area.

We have 195 students this week from Texas, Georgia and Tennessee. Students are representing 12 churches including Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Faith Family Fellowship, FBC Eastman, Georgia, FBC Milan, Tennessee, FBC Muleshoe, FBC Olney, Immanuel Baptist Church Kyle, Immanuel Baptist Church Temple, Northeast Baptist, San Antonio Korean Baptist Church, South Main Baptist Church, and West University Baptist and Crosspoint Church.

Eric Martinez, the Worship Speaker, kicked off the week with a message from Acts. Eric led Bouncers in worship through God's word and explained that the Holy Spirit calls all of us to go out and make disciples. Eric challenged students to allow the Holy Spirit to work through them and to be ready to share the gospel in any situation, whether that be with a stranger at the gas station or Lowe's, or whether that be a homeowner at one of the work sites. Eric encouraged students to let the Holy Spirit work through them so that they can accomplish great things this week in the Houston community, and so that they may grow closer in their walk with the Lord.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-19

The Bounce Staff is thankful that these students have willingly given up a week of their summer to serve the Houston community, and is excited to see what they will accomplish during this Bounce mission.
