It has been a productive week In Rockport, TX as Bouncers rebuild and repair homes that were damaged by Hurricane Harvey. Bounce Student Volunteers have left for their work sites at seven each morning, and return back to First Baptist Church Corpus Christi around four in the afternoon. While at their work sites, Bouncers also have had the opportunity to dig into God’s word in the morning during their alone time with God, and during lunch when the Team Chaplain leads the group in a devotion.
Each evening, Bouncers engage in a time of worship. Landon Wolfe, the Worship Leader, has led students in a time of worship through song and prayer. On the first night of the mission, Landon taught Bouncers a new song titled “Hope has a Name.” Landon has encouraged students to reflect upon the work they are doing in the Rockport area, and how it is a means of restoring hope to homeowners.
Randy Beggs, the Worship Speaker, has been leading students through Acts. Beggs has been focusing challenging Bouncers to rethink what it means to be a witness for Christ. On Tuesday evening, Beggs explained to Bouncers that being a witness for Christ can be awkward, because the world’s purposes are different than Christ’s purposes. On Thursday evening Beggs challenged students to be a witness for Christ anytime, anywhere and to anyone.
