Go Now Missions: Finding old connections in a new city

By Jenifer Wilkes, a Go Now missionary serving in Delaware

Delaware is approximately 1,640 miles from Texas; 7,266 miles from China; 7,976 miles from Taiwan and 964 miles from The Bahamas according to Google. However, those places all seemed much closer a few weeks ago. Three students have a closer connection to our missions team than we ever thought possible.

One of our teammates is a student at Midwestern State University (MSU). She told us that an MSU international student from The Bahamas would be in Newark, Delaware for the summer completing his internship. They were able to connect, and since then we have been able to build relationships, study the Bible and discuss the Gospel with him. We have been given a unique opportunity to continue to build on the work from MSU, which, in turn, will be continued by them in the fall.

Another one of our teammates met a student from Taiwan around four weeks ago. About a week later, I was finally able to meet him. We discovered that this student is from the same city I spent a few days in for training. We were able to connect from the pictures I showed him and famous areas around his city. I am still in contact with the person who led the training and lives in that city. With his help, we were able to find ways to share the Gospel that our new friend could connect with most, rather than spend a few weeks trying to find the best way to speak Truth into his life.

Two weeks ago, we went on a trip to Longwood Gardens. During the car ride, I was talking with the student sitting next to me. After he found out I was from Texas, he shared that he was going to be attending the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in the fall. I was able to connect him with another teammate who will be starting his senior year at UTA. I am excited to see what the Lord will do through this connection.

The world is such a large place, but some days it feels so small. As the Lord orchestrates our steps, He shows that He has sent us exactly where He wants us for His purpose.
