Go Time in Coastal Bend

They are off! Over one-hundred students loaded up in vans and zoomed out to ten work sites this morning. Projects range from lawn care, painting, and staining to demolition, exterior work, and roofing on sheds. In just one day these groups of students have accomplished so much.  We are proud of their hard work and love for acts of service.

A few of our groups have even had the opportunity to spend some time talking to homeowners at their work sites. It is so life-giving to hear people’s stories. Homeowner, Chris in Rockport had students working on pulling out a fence and getting rid of a dead lemon tree from her backyard today. She is in love with her little home and due to health issues was not able to evacuate during Hurricane Harvey. She learned months after Harvey during an evaluation of the damage on her property that she was providentially saved from a gas explosion that almost happened in her shed. I am so thankful for the many blessings all of us can count because of God's astonishing protection and love for us. Chris was so thankful that students were willing to spend part of their summer helping restore her living environment. Please pray for Ms. Chris and the rehabilitation of her home. Pray that she would feel and respond to God’s love in an overwhelming way as students spend time ministering to her this week.

We are proud of all our teams and the relationships they are building with the Lord, each other, and the homeowners they are serving. We expect to hear even more awesome stories of service and love as the week goes on. May we have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Lord is waiting to teach us this week.
