#HeroesAct

Breakfast at Bounce is much like breakfast at home. It is a great time to catch up with the family and plan out the day together. This morning I got to hang out with some ladies from First Baptist Kilgore. Eleventh-grade student, Maci Hatcher, was excited to get back to her work site at the trailer park this morning – after her morning cup of tea of course. She was able to spend time with a little girl in the community named Genesis. Maci explained she is grateful for her previous mission experience last summer in Honduras. There she was able to practice her Spanish language skills with children in Honduran communities. The trailer park where Maci’s team has been working has a large number of Spanish-speaking residents. Genesis, whose first language is Spanish, was able to find a sweet friend in Maci.

It is encouraging to see Bouncers act as leaders and friends in the communities they serve. They understand that their mission work this week is not only about fixing a roof but includes embracing the beautifully and wonderfully made people around them.

Bouncers have been learning that heroes act. Often, in life, we are not simply left to choose between good and bad but between good and best. Will we say yes to the right decision or the decision that is best? The Church can learn a lot from Bouncers like Maci who not only do their work (and do it well) but look for ways to encourage mighty works of God through building community.
