Preparing for BOUNCE Summer 2018 Kick-Off in Nederland, TX

BOUNCE is kicking off this week in Nederland, TX! Our first mission of Summer 2018 will be in the Port Arthur and Nederland area where students will be helping the community BOUNCE back from Hurricane Harvey. The BOUNCE Collegiate Staff and Volunteers are excited to be welcoming students at the First Baptist Church Nederland, where students and volunteers will be housed during the week. Students from across Texas and Georgia will arrive in Nederland this Monday to begin disaster recovery work. Students will be representing Arapaho Road Baptist Church, Crossroads Baptist Church, FBC Elroy, FBC Seguin, Grace Temple Baptist Church, and Lifepoint Church. Students will also be representing Unity Baptist Church all the way from Georgia! BOUNCE is thankful that these students have decided to give up a week of their summer to serve in the hard work of disaster recovery. Work this week will include tearing apart and setting up sheet rock and repairing roofs among other things. Students will be working long hours in the heat as a way to reflect their love for Christ and to restore hope to the communities of Nederland and Port Arthur who have lost so much in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. While the recovery effort in these cities will be an ongoing effort, the work that these students will do this week will be a step towards rebuilding these communities. The BOUNCE Staff and Volunteers are excited to see all of the work that God will do in and through these students this week!

The BOUNCE Collegiate Staff and Volunteers have been preparing these past few days for the arrival students. Aaron Austin is serving as the Mission Coordinator and Worship Speaker this week. Aaron has brought a fun and hardworking group of people with him including his wife Leighanne Austin who will be taking care of the mission logistics this week. Russell Hill is serving as the Construction Coordinator this week. Russell has gracefully provided supplies for the construction projects this week and will be overseeing all of the construction sites this week. The BOUNCE Collegiate Staff consists of Landon Wolfe, Amy Prentice, Cherish Mason and Matthew Huskins. Landon Wolfe is serving as the Worship Leader this summer, and he is excited to see the students deepen in their relationship with Christ through worship. Amy Prentice is serving as the Missions Administrative Specialists and has served on the BOUNCE Collegiate Staff this past Spring Break and last summer. Amy is passionate about disaster recovery work and is excited to be serving with BOUNCE again this summer. Matthew Huskins is serving as the Audio Visual Specialists and he is excited to see how the Lord uses these students this summer. Cherish Mason is serving as the Communications Missions Specialists and she hopes that the students' experience this week will encourage them to live on mission back home.

You can check this blog for more updates on the disaster recovery work that will be going on in Port Arthur and Nederland this week. Please pray that the students would arrive safely in Nederland tomorrow, that they would be ready for the hard work this week, and that the love of Christ would be reflected in all that they do. "But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love word or talk but in deed and in truth." 1 John 3:18-19
